Today, I'm going to discuss erotic hypnosis. But before I get into the erotic uses of hypnosis, I want to begin by discussing hypnosis more generally.
- What is a trance state?
- A trance is simply an altered state of consciousness, somewhat different from your normal state of consciousness. It's not something unusual or weird, people go in-and-out of trances all the time. You're driving and start daydreaming and suddenly realize you haven't seen the road for an hour. Watch people go into an elevator, it's as if their brains go "on hold," they become all different until their floor arrives.
- What is the unconscious mind?
- Your unconscious is simply everything you are not conscious of right now. Before you read this sentence, you were probably unconscious of how your left big toe feels. Having read that sentence, the feeling came into your conscious mind. Because we can only pay conscious attention to so much at once, much of our experience and learning remains unconscious. The unconscious mind is much larger than the conscious mind,
- What is hypnosis?
- Hypnosis is purposely inducing trance in one's self or another for some purpose, usually to communicate directly with the unconscious mind.
- Can you be made to do things you wouldn't normally do?
- The "proper" answer to this question is that no, you can't be made to do things you wouldn't normally agree to. In my experience, this isn't entirely true. You can't be made to do anything that you completely disagree with. However, we all have experiences of making bad decisions, choosing things for some reason that are not in our best interest when we think about it rationally. This is why hypnosis is helpful with things like quitting smoking or losing weight, choices we've made at one level that we disagree with on another level. If you are of "two minds" about something, a hypnotist can get you to do it even if you wouldn't normally choose to do it consciously. No one advertises hypnosis for making you take up smoking or to get fat, but it can be done. Further, hypnosis can be used to change your perceptions and beliefs, which then means you are making choices on false premises, doing things you'd not choose to do if you had accurate information.
- Doesn't that mean hypnosis is dangerous?
- Well, it's like this... your unconscious mind is still there and working even when you're not in trance, so it's not like you can prevent it picking up bad ideas from others even if you never allow yourself to be hypnotized. If you talk to other people, in real life or online, in any context whatsoever, your unconscious mind is receiving suggestions which may or may not be good for you. A trained hypnotist can communicate with your unconscious mind even more powerfully than most folks, so it behooves you to choose someone ethical and agree in advance what changes you wish to make.
- What is Ericksonian hypnosis?
- Milton Erickson was a very famous hypnotist who did a lot of powerful change work simply through telling stories. As far as I've been able to ascertain, he didn't consciously understand how he did it himself, it was an unconscious skill. There's a huge branch of knowledge based on his work, books of his stories, etc.
- What is neurolinguistic programming?
- NLP is a series of tools for studying subjective experience and modeling behavior. It overlaps with hypnosis partially because the founders modeled Erickson (among others) as they were developing their methodology. The NLP "Milton model" is
"a way of using language to induce and maintain trance in order to contact the hidden resources of our personality"
- What is erotic hypnosis?
- In erotic hypnosis, the trance is induced for lascivious purposes. Some examples:
- to allow you to experience impossible fantasies
- to provide you with an alternative history your fetish persona more real
- to train and intensify your erotic responses
- to make a fantasy scenario much more vivid and realistic
- to deepen your submission to and dependence on me
- What are Lady Johanna's credentials wrt to hypnosis and NLP?
